Teaching an Enriched Primary  Gymnastics Curriculum

Gain the skills, knowledge and confidence to plan, teach and assess primary gymnastics.

Teaching gymnastics is in line with the primary curriculum. It can be transformative in its impact on a child’s physical, emotional, cognitive and social development. And yet initial teacher training focuses very little on the subject. As a result, there’s a huge lack of confidence amongst primary school teachers when it comes to delivering a skill-based gymnastics curriculum. But with the developmental benefits it offers, gymnastics is an essential sport to teach primary school pupils. That’s where this course comes in.

Created by Ryan Bradley, former international gymnast and founder and director of RB Gym & Sport, this course gives you the knowledge, skills and confidence to teach an enriched skill-based gymnastics curriculum.

You have several options when it comes to taking this course. You can complete the full course, module 1, module 2 & 3, or our FREE mini-course.

Developing fundamental movement skills is a key tenant of the KS1 national curriculum. Lessons need to teach children agility, balance and coordination.

That’s why it’s essential to make gymnastics a part of your school’s PE curriculum. The moves, exercises and activities that make up gymnastics help children to understand the way their bodies move, and how these movements can be coordinated and controlled.

Module 1 of this course develops your understanding, ability and confidence in teaching KS1 gymnastics, so you can support children in mastering these critical movements and skills.

Great course! I have been teaching PE for over 10 years and had experience working alongside Gymnastic coaches collecting new ideas along the way. This course fits neatly into primary curriculum gymnastics and provided me with a wealth of new ideas to challenge and progress all children no matter what level of ability they are. Being able to easily revisit units of the course before teaching a gymnastic discipline has really helped to ingrain my understanding and confidence. This is not only a course but a crucial resource for teaching gymnastics in schools.

Lizzie Kirk, Educator, JB Sport Coaching, Lissington, Lincoln, UK.

I found the course very useful within my job role coaching in schools and having a little one I was able to complete the course in my own time which was a real plus. I am already confident in teaching gymnastics, but the modules were able to expand my knowledge, especially when it comes to the differentiation in rolls, and cartwheels. Attention to details in the videos gave me some great ideas for my more advanced children that I teach in my lessons. The Aspire:ED team were fantastic in supporting me, with quick responses and good communication.
